Technology Services Company Electronic Data Systems (EDS) - 550 Words
Large Technology Services Company: Electronic Data Systems (EDS) (Coursework Sample) Content: EDSStudentà ¢Ã¢â ¬s NameInstitution AffiliationEDSIn the business world, it is incontestable that companies effectuate various mechanisms that help them gain a competitive edge in diverse markets. In this regard, measures such as product promotion through shows and exhibitions have been developed to advertize market products and make them have good sales. Perhaps, one of the most significant methods employed by marketers is advertisements via television commercials. A prime example of a company that utilizes this technique is known as Electronic Data Systems (EDS), a large technology services firm that employed 139,000 people in 64 countries in 2008 (Goulart, 2013). From the concerned commercials, it is vivid that the use of unrealistic events in an advertisement helps draw attention and pass a message in an efficacious manner. The central message that EDS is trying to communicate through the three publications is that it provides people with the best services that surpass normal levels. In particular, this assertion is drawn from the nature of activities involved in the commercials and the descriptive messages that accompany them towards the end. For instance, in the first advertisement, "Pamplona Bull Runs Ridiculous as Bulls Mutateà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã , EDS asserts that by providing people with the most reliable services, they help them outdo competitors (The Ad Show, 2011). Additionally, in the second one, EDS AirplaneÃâà ¸ the company makes a claim that they help build digital businesses even when they are up and running by offering the best products (AFallGuy4U, 2009). Lastly, in the "EDS, an HP Company à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"Cat Herdersà ¢Ã¢â ¬" commercial, the firm uses an analogy of cat herders to show that they bring together varied ideas and technologies to offer its customers with unbeatable services (CBS, 2009).As one watches the three videos, they cannot help but notice that they all share some common aspects. Most importantly, they inc orporate events that seem rather absurd and unrealistic, and then use them to draw valuable information concerning the nature of services EDS provides. For example, in the first advertisement, EDS makes use of a race that involves a number of people being chased by squirrels. In reality, such an event is preposterous, and rational human beings cannot conduct it. In like manner, the second commercial involves people building an airplane in the air, an impossibility. In the last advertisement, two individuals are observed to keep 10,000 cats, another impractical behavior. However, EDS uses these analogies to show how it comes up with unimaginable ideas that turn out unexpectedly productive. If I were hired to develop another commercial for the company, I would come up with an event in which a sample of people competes to eat a loaf of bread. The various loaves would be from different suppliers to show the existence of competition in any market. Then, the winner would gain victory by co mpacting their piece of bread into a small size that they would easily insert into their mouth. Afterwa...
